Take That Damn Flag Down!

Once upon a time, I heard a preacher say that there are 3 types of people in this world: Those who make things happen. Those who watch things happen. And those who wonder…what happened?

As you all know, the recent Charleston Massacre has lead to a movement to have the Confederate flag taken down.

The debate has garnered much protest and activism and is now up to the legislature to make it a state wide decision to take down the flag permanently.

Well, Saturday morning, a group of concerned activists took matters into their own hands.

“The Confederate flag was removed from a pole on the South Carolina capitol grounds early Saturday morning by activists, but state employees returned the flag to its position not long after the incident.

An activist group claimed responsibility for taking the flag down. Witnesses said two people were arrested by authorities almost immediately after one of them scaled the flag pole on the north side of the State House grounds and pulled the Confederate banner down.

The Confederate flag has been at the center of a debate in Columbia for the past week in the wake of the racially motivated massacre of nine African-Americans in a Charleston church.

Activists calling themselves “concerned citizens” said in a news release that they removed the flag about 5:30 a.m. Saturday. A woman identified by the group as “Bree” climbed the pole and pulled the flag down, the group said.

“Deciding to do what the SC Legislature has thus far neglected to do, the group took down the symbol of white supremacy that inspired the massacre, continued to fly at full mast in defiance of South Carolina’s grief, and flew in defiance of everyone working to actualize a more equitable Carolinian future,” the group said in a news release distributed to the media about 6:30 a.m.

Bree has become somewhat of a superhero of sorts, even inspiring many celebrities to tweet about her bold act.
All I can say is that this is the kind of change I can believe in; and I had to let you guys know about it.

I respectfully disagree. Taking down the flag will not do anything for us.

The politicians are not doing it for our sake. Also, what have the Democrats done for us the past 6 years? Removing the flag doesn’t mean anything. It won’t bring justice for the Charleston crime, and it won’t do anything to prevent further crimes against blacks. She supposedly did to move us into a future where everyone has equal rights. How does taking down the flag help us get those rights?

The flag removal puts us in one Red-Blue dispute that does nothing for us at all. The North was NOT fighting the war to end slavery. The Emancipation(which freed no one) really came out because the English and French were going to put troops here and enter the war. While some racists now use the Star and Bars, the flag for most of the whites who have it means Southern pride or history. I don’t like it but that is a fact. This is therefore also a Northern-Southern white issue.

Look up George Soros and Black Lives Matter. They spray painted the statute, they were most of the blacks at the mostly white capitol march to take down the flag, and this stunt was most likely down connected to them.

I have no problem if whites there want to remove it but this is the last thing we need to focus on doing, especially after the Charleston tragedy.

I’m so proud of this young woman! This is a rebuttal to all those sick ass Negro coons caping for Rachel talking about she “done more for the black community than any black woman has done.” Her ass ain’t done shit and she definitely would have not done this….never in a million years!

I heard that some black people helped put the flag back up. If this information is true, this is a shame.

  6. I’m so proud of sis and the fact that a Black woman did it makes it even more powerful. But I have to wonder if this is a case of the tail wagging the dog. Okay, so where did the flag flap come from? We were talking about racist terrorist murdering 9 innocent people after he sat down with them for an hour or so. Then we allow it get all conflated about some damn rag that been flying for the dead crackers since whenever. Did we allow ourselves to get sidetrack by corporate media?

And I kinda like when that flag of the losing side was flying. You always knew where the losers were when you saw that flag.
